HKS Medical Information Systems yesterday announced that Mary Cockerill has been named President.

"Mary brings a strong track record in the health information technology business and is expected to drive impressive results for the company," said Hubert Hickman, a member of the HKS Board of Directors.  "I have great confidence in her leadership and the HKS team's ability to continue success as a market leader in electronic health record and workflow management software solutions."

Cockerill comes to HKS from her current role as Project Director of the Microbiology Automation Research Project (MARP) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  Before joining UNMC, Cockerill served as Director of Professional Services, Laboratory Automation for Cardinal Health Pyxis Division, and as President of Lab-InterLink.

Cockerill has a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Saint Mary and has completed graduate work in Computer Science at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  She has more than 30 year's experience in medical technology, clinical laboratory information and automation systems, and private industry executive roles.

The Board of Directors wishes to thank Douglas J. Perry for his achievements and leadership of HKS over the past five years.

Founded in 1993 by Dr. Byers Shaw of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Hubert Hickman and Paul Kenyon, Ph.D., HKS Medical Information Systems has worked to develop state-of-the-art software products that improve the quality of patient care, workflow management and provide operational efficiencies for the healthcare industry.
